HIGH POINT FARMS

About Us

High Point Farms is cutting back on it's breeding program, to focus on participating in riding activities and producing 1/2 Arabian steller performance horses. As a result of this cutback, a number of our broodmares are offered at very low prices, to good homes. Please review the sales list for the new reduced rates. Payment plans are available as long as the horse remains on site until fully paid for. A reduced monthly boarding fee will also be charged. No interest will be charged on horses picked up within four months.

High Point Farms is located 30 miles east of Dallas. High Point stands 15 stallions(four of which are black) and breeds for Purebred Arabians, Half-Arabians, National Show horses, Anglo Arabian and Saddlebreds.

Signature HPF(Thee Desperado x RA Haneel by Alidaar) is a gorgeous son the the 1995 U.S. Reserve National Champion Stallion. "When Shawn Crews was here, she said she felt he was one of Thee Desperado's best offspring," says Marie. "He is the spitting image of his sire only black," she adds.

Another High Point Farms black stallions, Makyte(Zodiac Matador x Sky Lyte by *Aladdinn) has already proved himself as a winning show horse and a sire of champions. Several of his foals have already gone on to win Halter titles. Unfortunately Makyte was seriously injured when he and his rider Meghan Wilson were struck by a spooked horse at Youth Nationals before a costume class in 1996. He and Meghan were both rushed to the hospital(he went to OSU) and it was determined he had broken several ribs. Before his injury, he had been named Region 9 Reserve Champion Native Costume JOTR and has over 20 other Championships in English, Driving and Costume.

The last of High Point's black stallions is Sunwood Bask Onyx(Seattles Onyx x Sunwoods Fantabaska, a Port Bask granddaughter). Onyx is currently in training with Dennis Lewis of Lewis Ltd. and will be shown in Western Pleasure.

When Marie Wilson decided to begin breeding Half Arabian Horses, she began a nationwide search for several Saddlebred stallions that fit her criteria. "Our main focus has always been to breed beautiful, athletic, performers and since we show and rider these horses ourselves, disposition is of the utmost importance to us", she says. "We felt the spotted and colored horses stood out in the Show Ring and decided if we could combine all of the qualities we require with color, we would have the ultimate show horse".

Her search took her to the Northwest, and let to the purchase of 4 saddlebred stallions. The first, Rocket Shoes (Buck Rogers x Ninotchka) is a striking liver and white Pinto American Saddlebred who's is not only a 5 Gaited Champion himself, but has sired National Winners in both Pinto and Half Arabian divisions. In 1997, his son Rockets Red Glare, Top Tenned in Native Costume at the U.S. Nationals for the second year in a row. He also sired the National Champion and Reserve National Champion Park horse at the 1997 Canadian Pinto Nationals.

To compliment the black breeding program another stallion has been added. Carnival Shenanigans(Winter Carnival x Greenhill Hells Bells Lassie) is a black and white Pinto Saddlebred with a history of siring upright, colored foals. He is also a Champion Halter stallion and has sired several Champion Half Arabian Halter horses of his own. "Shenanigans was injured as a youngster and has had limited showing." says Marie. But with his eye catching black and white color and the fact that is very upright with lots of trot, we felt he would be a great addition to our program. He will be crossed on many of the black daughters of the Farm's stallions as well as other mares.

Also, standing at High Point Farms is The Road Show(Travelin'Show x Thunders Fancy Lady). He is a bay and white Pinto Saddlebred stallion who has 2 National titles in Pinto Halter. "Road Show is so pretty headed, many people think he is Half-Arabian," says Marie.

"The challenge today is to produce black or spotted horses that are desired by both trainers and exhibitors alike," says Marie. "We feel here at High Point Farms we are meeting that Challenge".
