High Point Farms, located 30 miles east of Dallas, Texas is a breeding as well as a horse training facility. When the farms started 14 years ago, there was one black purebred Arabian stallion. Today, High Point Farms stands 15 stallions ( four of which are black) and breeds for purebred Arabians, Half-Arabians, National Showhorses and Saddlebreds. There is something magical, almost mystical about Black Arabian horses. When we first started, we wanted to concentrate specifically on breeding Black Arabian Performance Horses. Now we breed just performance horses and if we happen to get a black it's icing on the cake. Quality is the one characteristic we look for in all of our of breeding stallions. They all are different, and each has their own strengths. Our ultimate goal is to produce a beautiful performer, a horse that will stand out in the showring and excel in their particular discipline whether it's English, Halter or Western. Since we show our own horses, a good disposition is also a must and that is another characteristic we breed for. The four Black Arabian stallions standing at High Point Farms are: Signature HPF(Thee Desperado x RA Hananee) a straight Egyptian Halter stallion, Sunwood Bask Onyx a promising Western Pleasure stallion, and Makyt( Zodiac Matador x Sky Lite) winner of over 20 Championships in English, Costume and Pleasure Driving, shown by Meghan Wilson. To compliment the black breeding program 4 saddlebred stallions were acquired. The first, Rocket Shoes (Buck Rogers x Ninotchka) is a striking liver and white Pinto American Saddlebred who's is not only a 5 Gaited Champion himself, but has sired National Winners in both Pinto and Half Arabian divisions. In 1997, his son Rockets Red Glare, Top Tenned in Native Costume at the U.S. Nationals for the second year in a row. He also sired the National Champion and Reserve National Champion Park horse at the 1997 Canadian Pinto Nationals. another stallion has been added. Carnival Shenanigans(Winter Carnival x Greenhill Hells Bells Lassie) is a black and white Pinto Saddlebred with a history of siring upright, colored foals. He is also a Champion Halter stallion and has sired several Champion Half Arabian Halter horses of his own.Also, standing at High Point Farms is The Road Show(Travelin'Show x Thunders Fancy Lady). He is a bay and white Pinto Saddlebred stallion who has 2 National titles in Pinto Halter. "Road Show is so pretty headed, many people think he is Half-Arabian," says Marie. "The challenge today is to produce black or spotted horses that are desired by both trainers and exhibitors alike," says Marie. "We feel here at High Point Farms we are meeting that Challenge".
